The number of LNG-fuelled ships is increasing, largely due to LNG’s environmental benefits – it produces 80% less nitrogen oxide emissions and 40% less carbon dioxide emission than marine fuel oil, with little sulphur and no particulate emissions. Since then, however, multiple shipping lines, including Maersk, have blamed Covid. The situation at the Port of Yantian has not shown any signs of improvement yet with the global shipping lines announcing additional measures to control the effects of the evolving container terminal congestion and disruption in and around the Port of Shenzhen.
